Full Job Description
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join us in September 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. The role is based in Tudhoe Colliery Primary School and offered at 32.5 hours per week and on a term-time basis. Within your apprenticeship you may be required to work different year groups, supporting teaching & learning in a variety of ways, including group work and one to one support, with the aim that all pupils can access our curriculum.
- have 5 GCSE's at Grades A-C/9-4 (including English and Maths) or hold an equivalent and relevant qualification
- communicate effectively in a variety of situations and with people at all levels
- be reliable, flexible who has passion for working in schools
- be able to work effectively as part of a team
- Number of 'teaching' weeks - 39 weeks; plus
- Public (bank) holidays - 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
- Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (26 days) or 6.4 weeks (31 days)
You will study towards the Teaching Assistant Level 3 qualification via Woodspeen Training.

As an apprentice you will develop skills, knowledge and experience of working within Education and you will also develop:
· An understanding of current statutory guidance including 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' Part 1, Safeguarding policies, prevent strategy.
· Recognise different stages of child development through school e.g. transition between key stages and year groups.
· Support and encourage pupils to move towards independent learning.

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years' service will receive 26 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years' service will receive 31 days annual leave. For example:
Calculation for employees with less than 5 years' service:
39 weeks (term time) + 26 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45 weeks' pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
Calculation for employees with more than 5 years' service:
39 weeks (term time) + 31 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46 weeks' pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
