Full Job Description

· You will be supporting a gentleman with cerebral palsy to achieve optimal independence in his own home and in the community.

· You will follow a client-specific Lifestyle Plan, training and company policies whilst providing assistance, guidance and encouragement as directed by the client, parents, case manager, and other professionals when required.

· You will work within an experienced and proficient team on a 2 to 1 basis during the day, including weekends or work alone on waking nights.

· Personal care duties are an essential part of this post, full training will be provided.

· Using the client's vehicle, act as a driver mainly locally, and further afield if needed.

· Have the availability to offer occasional cover for staff holidays and sickness.

· You will follow an agreed approach, and use strategies documented in the support plan, working in collaboration with the client's Case Manager, Parents and any other professionals when required.

· Undertake training and supervision as agreed by the Case Manager.

· Ensure confidentiality in all matters relating to the client.

· Undertake any other appropriate and reasonable task in relation to the employment as agreed with the client, parents and case manager.

· To accompany the client on holidays and weekends away when required.

· Assistance with moving and handling, including the use of various equipment.

· Administration of medication - full medication training will be provided.

· Patience and the ability to maintain a calm and consistent approach.

· Reasonable level of fitness to undertake the manual tasks required of a Support Worker.

· Ability to maintain professional boundaries and develop an effective working relationship with the client and family members.

· Respect for others' beliefs, values, lifestyles and culture.

Responsible attitude.

· Open-minded approach with the ability to work on own initiative.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Applicant Personal Specifications Essential Qualifications/Experience

· Experience and a confident approach with Gastrostomy sites and experience of administration of medication through Gastrostomy site.

  • You must be able to read information contained in reports, and present information clearly and accurately when communicating with the team via different forms of documentation.

  • You must have the ability to work on your own unsupervised, or as part of a team.

  • You must have a full UK driving licence and be a confident driver.

    · Flexibility with shifts patterns, working hours and location.

    · Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service outcome.

    · Satisfactory completion of employment and personal references.

    Desirable experience
  • To have a knowledge or level of understanding around Brain Injury

  • To have experience of working in a community setting or people's own homes.

  • Experience of working in a family setting., GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
