Full Job Description

Kingsway Surgery have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and enthusiastic prescribing paramedic to join our practice. This role is offered on a part-time basis, for 4 days per week.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate safe clinical decision making, competency in taking history from our patients and completing clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment as required.

The main duties would include, but aren't limited to:

  • Dealing with patient emergencies on the day

  • Minor illness clinics

  • Long-term condition reviews.

  • Home visit requests

    If you are an experienced prescribing paramedic wanting a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care;

  • Have completed ENP/ ECP Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be a ALS/APLS provider;

  • Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients;

  • Be able to evaluate patient care confidently;

  • Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines;

  • To exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills;

  • Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively;

  • Understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one's own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council;

  • Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working;

  • Can demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children.

    We are a large surgery with c. 14,000 patients, and we are looking for a prescribing paramedic to join our happy team. The team comprises: 2 GP partners, 4 salaried GPs, 2 ANPs, 2 nurse prescribers, 3 practice nurses, 1 HCA, 1 phlebotomist, 3 first contact physio practitioners from the PCN, diabetic specialist pharmacist working in the surgery and a team of remote clinical pharmacists and a midwife, as well as further team of PCN staff working with the surgery.


  • We work with an on-call GP who is there to support the clinical team during their clinics. We are a SystmOne surgery, use Ardens templates and use of Patchs patient contact system.

    You will be supported in practice by a strong administrative team comprised of 10 receptionists, 2 prescription clerks, 2 medical secretaries, 2 scanning clerks, practice manager and assistant practice manager.

    Training will be offered for SystmOne , Ardens templates and Patchs.
