Full Job Description

The Governors of St Stephen's Catholic Primary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated, dedicated and caring Pastoral lead, to join our happy and hardworking school. Required to start on 01 September 2024, this is a temporary 12 month post. You will be required to work 37 hours per week (term time only) with a view to becoming permanent after 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and motivated practitioner to join our dedicated staff team. If you are passionate about the importance of pastoral care, well being and supporting the needs of our vulnerable pupils, at all levels, within our supportive, hardworking school community.

Playing a vital role, the successful candidate would support our SEND and Safeguarding teams and be our Pastoral lead within our school, working closely with staff, pupils and parents. They will be meticulous about record keeping and provide high level support to staff and families of St Stephen's. They will also have a clear understanding of Pastoral and SEND provision, communicate clearly and professionally with parents, children and external agencies and be proactive about taking action to support our families.

Experience of supporting Mental Health and Well being is essential and having ELSA training would be desirable. Further training will be available. Applicants should be supportive of our Catholic ethos.

General duties / requirements of the role include:

  • To be a Mental Health and Wellbeing advocate providing support to children, families and staff alike.

  • Offer emotional and practical support to pupils.

  • Build trusting relationships with pupils and parents/ carers and to help support their needs.

  • Work alongside colleagues to assess the needs of the children's' and families referred for support and participate in the reviews and evaluation of the support.

  • Plan creative and innovative responses to children's' and families' needs and keep high-quality records and assist with the preparation of reports.

  • Support young people and their families in accessing multi-agencies, support, advice and guidance

  • To hold responsibility for key pastoral initiatives across the school.
