Full Job Description

This role is ideal for those who want to inspire children in our nurturing mainstream primary school. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will ensure that all children integrate as fully as possible into the life of our school. Working in partnership with our Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo, Class Teachers and wider team, you will be responsible for the safeguarding, well-being, education and care of the children in our school. Assisting children with a range of needs to support their learning in line with the National Curriculum, SEND Code of Practice and our school's policies and procedures.,

  • Working with children who may have EHCPs, and experience a range of SEND, SEMH, learning difficulties and other vulnerabilities.

  • Ensuring children's needs are met and that they are safe, secure, happy and progressing in their learning.

  • Observing, assessing and recording children's learning and progress.

    We are looking for a committed, caring, hard-working and resilient person with successful prior experience, skills and knowledge of working with children and those with a range of additional needs.


  • You will ideally have:

  • a good knowledge of SEND, Inclusion and Pastoral strategies

  • confidence in safeguarding and attendance practices in a school

  • experience in supporting children with inclusion, behaviour and pastoral needs, special educational needs and disabilities, English as an additional language and those who are vulnerable and or subject to child protection procedures

  • experience of working with children with cognition and learning delay, language and social interaction barriers, autistic spectrum disorder, social communication difficulties, sensory processing, health and medical needs

  • excellent administration skills, supporting the Deputy Headteacher, SENDCo and DSL in ensuring the school's Pastoral, Inclusion, SEND and safeguarding duties are effectively delivered

  • English and mathematics Grade C GCSE or NVQ Level 3 Learning Support Assistant qualification (or above)

  • a firm, kind, patient, consistent and approachable manner

  • a can-do approach, be a team player and be ready for a challenge!
