Full Job Description

Based on site at RCM, Cheadle Hulme, you will work on a one-to-one basis supporting the day-to-day learning of the students within the college and providing any other support they may require through the day. You can expect to:

  • Work as part of a team to support the teaching and learning activities of all learners who have severe and complex educational needs.

  • Liaise with the class teacher to ensure the Keyworker role is being implemented effectively through Learning Support Assistants.

  • To be a key worker for one or more learners in the class or group facilitating the documentation of assessment/progress and maintaining communication information between school, college, residence and school, college and home.

  • Work towards the College KPI's to ensure we are striving to be an outstanding provider to young people with SEND.

  • Experience working within a SEND educational setting.

  • Excellent communication and written skills.

  • Ability to commute on a daily basis to site.

  • Energetic and enthusiastic about SEND education and making a difference to the lives of our children.

  • Signalong or British Sign Language would be advantageous but not essential.


  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certification preferred but not essential, we can support this training and also enable you to achieve the required standard in Maths, English and IT if you have not already achieved this,
  • Please can you detail any experience supporting or working in an education setting with special education needs or disabilities for children or young people?


  • Education:
  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)


  • Experience:
  • Profound disabilities or SEN: 1 year (required)
