Full Job Description

This newly created HR Officer position will support the Trustees, Animal Centre Manager and Finance Manager in the Animal Centre. The role will concentrate on the operational and administrative aspects of HR and will also act as a first line support to staff but will also provide administrative support to the Animal Centre Manager and Finance Manager. This a part-time role of three days which can be worked in number of ways with either three full days or with less hours across four days, but you will be required to work at least two days in the office.

Main duties and responsibilities:

- Be the first point of contact for general HR queries

- Support Line Managers with 121's, annual appraisals, grievances etc. and type up and store a thorough record of the meetings.

- Manage and maintain the branches HR software (BrightHR)

- Oversee the HR and recruitment inbox

- Drafting contracts and offer letters

- Produce and place job adverts

- Coordinate and arrange interviews and book meeting rooms

- Manage onboarding documentation for new joiners and volunteers

- Manage both incoming and outgoing reference requests

- Manage the compulsory training systems, such as GDPR, Safeguarding, Dignity at Work etc

- Conduct right to work checks prior to employment

- Work with the Animal Centre Manager and Finance Manager to ensure Staff Handbook, Health & Safety and HR policies are in place and updated when required

- Manage staff sickness in line with handbook and policies

- Updating the RSPCA Isle of Wight Org Chart

- Communicate any employment law updates

- Manage and maintain HR files on BrightHR

- Research, source and book training for staff as and when required

- Support the Animal Centre & Facilities management staff with any Health & Safety administrative tasks as required

- Provide Payroll support when Finance Manager is not available. Other Duties

This job description cannot cover every issue or task that may arise within RSPCA Isle of Wight. At various times the post-holder will be directed to carry out other reasonable duties in support of other RSPCA.

The RSPCA Isle of Wight branch is an independently registered Island based charity and is one of over 150 independent charities that support the work of the RSPCA at a local community level. Originally established in the 1950s, we support the Island's most vulnerable animals.

We provide care and assistance to the animals on the Isle of Wight that require our help. Our service supports professional animal rescue, providing veterinary care, rehabilitation and rehoming or release to the wild. We also promote responsible animal ownership through local educational campaigns.

As an independently registered charity, we rely on the generosity of the local community to support our animal welfare work. All monies raised on the Island, remain on the Island and go to support abandoned, abused, and orphaned domestic, farm and wild animals. Funds are raised through our charity shops, fundraising events, legacies and donations.
