Full Job Description

Utilising your background knowledge and experience in the field of modern industrial control systems, you will be expected to provide a high level of asset specific technical knowledge and competence within your discipline area to the Operations and Maintenance team, supporting the technicians in order to deliver challenging operational, technical and commercial targets. Provide knowledge and expertise within your maintenance discipline ensuring risk based maintenance techniques are applied to deliver safe, flexible and reliable plant.,

  • Health, Safety & Environmental compliance

  • Develop robust risk based maintenance processes to deliver the commercial performance of the asset

  • Budget management and cost control

  • Engender a culture of innovation to ensure that business performance is continuously improved, including identifying areas where the power plant staff can learn from practices in place within the wider RWE Generation portfolio

  • Engagement with the wider RWE Business

    High level of technical knowledge and competence in control systems.

  • Control systems maintenance expertise at a senior technician level with the ability to influence engineers and managers while possessing the interpersonal skills to operate in a strong team based environment.

  • Qualified to HNC / Degree Level in relevant Engineering Discipline and Member of a relevant professional body.

  • Experienced in planned and reactive maintenance and optimisation of modern industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs and protection systems.

  • Advanced fault-finding skills are important on both hardware and software including industrial network topologies and field instrumentation.

  • Experience in programming of industrial automation systems, e.g. PLCs, DCSs, and familiarity with the IEC 61131-3 standard.

  • Experienced in the safety management aspects of control systems, for example, preventing loss of containment, functional safety and managing engineering change.

  • Experience in data historians such as OSIsoft PI SMT., Demonstrated experience with Rockwell and Siemens products would be an advantage, for example, Rockwell ControlLogix or Siemens S7.

  • Specific experience with Rockwell software suites including Studio 5000, FactoryTalk Site Edition and Machine Edition, FactoryTalk Linx, RSLogix 500, AssetCentre and ThinManager would be an advantage.

  • Experience in server management would be advantageous, for example, using VMware ESXi and vCenter.

  • Experience of project management on control systems, for example, contract management, drafting specifications, drafting drawings, setting technical requirements and FAT/SAT attendance.

  • Experience in the power generation industry or a similar process industry would be an advantage along with a basic understanding of the technology we employ, for example, rotating machinery and hydraulic control systems.

  • An expected starting salary from £56,470 to £64,815 depending on experience and up to 15% annual bonus
