Full Job Description

The Business Management team is responsible for the groups ongoing planning, administrative and organisational development activities. This includes management of the technology budget, headcount planning, vendor management, senior management reporting, leading culture and communications initiatives as well as providing ongoing support to the Senior Leadership team.

This position will support and partner with our CTO & EAP (Enterprise and Architecture Practice) Business.

CTO

The Chief Technology Officer guides Citi's enterprise-wide technology strategy, and ensures that Citi's resources, capabilities, and infrastructure are aligned to that strategy.

The CTO's work creates a competitive advantage for the company, with improved speed to market in a client-focused environment.

EAP

The EAP Org is responsible for defining and executing core architecture and technology strategy for the Institutional Clients Group (ICG) and works across the ICG businesses (Markets, Treasury and Trade Services, Private Bank, and Shared Services) to ensure complete strategic alignment and efficiency of execution across a diverse portfolio of engineering activities, including external Cloud Capability development, Platform Architectures, and Data Engineering.

The role:

The Senior Business Unit Group Manager is a senior-level position that will report into the Business Execution Lead for Technology, with a matrix into the Head of EAP/CTO.

The successful applicant will responsible for the overall administrative activities of a business. These tasks may include managing external audits, business continuity activities or addressing regulatory issues. The Business Unit Group Manager may coordinate and manage activities such as the tracking of business financials, employee headcount and other administrative needs and ad hoc complex projects as necessary.

What you will do:

  • This is a key role supporting of EAP/CTO objectives through the management of financial plans, forecasting, resource optimization, productivity. Therefore the Senior Business Unit Group Manager will work closely with the Head of EAP / CTO to ensure senior management and executive level reporting requirements are met.

  • Oversee the Business Unit Management Teams with a focus on management of financial reporting, analysis and forecasting activities, as well as the yearly budgeting processes for the department. Understand the complexities of the department P&L; allocable base, appropriate accruals and client allocations in order to improve operational efficiency and productivity.

  • Create methodologies, procedures and governance of the Productivity Area to ensure expense targets are met by each business/function.

  • Evaluate and approve investment/expenditure requests and capital expenses for all areas/functions.

  • Ensure approved out-of-budget expenditure requests are appropriately handled.

  • Engage in cost management activities, such as validating spending and cost saving initiatives, monitoring savings initiatives and expenses, as well as monitoring consistency between financial information, productivity information and HR reports.

  • Identify opportunities to optimize costs, propose initiatives and lead creation of direct expense plans in partnership with internal functions and teams.

  • Manage and drive the process to set up a continuous cycle of organization/operating model reviews to shape the local organization model.

  • Provide leadership and promote business ties with internal and external senior leaders/clients across key businesses, regions and support functions.

    Proven experience within the Financial Services industry, preferably in Technology Business Unit Management capacity.

  • Strong experience managing and/or partnering with technology functions.

  • Demonstrated ability to grasp and assimilate complex information and make or influence fact-based decisions.

  • Experienced in driving positive and sustainable change in a multi-country or global scope, ability to manage cultural differences and champion diversity.

  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a leader who can positively and productively add to the overall organizational infrastructure and governance

  • Ability to engage at the senior management level and demonstrated communication experience at different levels of organization.

  • Proven People management skills - you will be have full management responsibility including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring and budget approval with the responsibility for the full range of a business function.

  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions) and articulates complex recommendations.

  • Builds credibility and trust with the senior management team across the regions whilst developing strong partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.


  • Education:
  • University degree (Master's preferred) or equivalent experience operating in a similar role
